later addition

well - there were two pictures at the estate sale, but Audrey was the one that stood out. But after the fact I decided that I need the other portrait as well... he is Danny Walker. He was my mom's friends Uncle. He had more damage, silverfish or something got to him. I forgot to get a before pic, but here is his AFTER photo!

Audrey Update

So I took in Audrey Gaddis-Walker into Colonial Art Gallery and had her all fixed up. She has an acid free matte and backboard and they even cleaned up her old frame and got her new glass.
This is her before and after shot - she looks so beautimus!

Estate Sale

So I had the opportunity to go to a couple of Estate Sales on Friday and Saturday. I didn't have that much luck today/Saturday, but Friday I was able to make a couple of purchases

I got 2 silver necklaces, a drawing of a girl {who needs a ton of TLC} and some old cards, I would guess from the 60's {most were blank birthday and Christmas card}

ALL of this cost me a total of 9 bucks... not too shabby considering Christmas Cards can be sooo expensive plus the girl in the pic is lovely.

I didn't take any photos of the necklaces - they are just simply silver chains... but the cards and the lady I got some shots of...

I am beyond crushing on the typography! love love love it! And so many of the cards have lovely little details that just aren't done that often (especially for less that 2 bucks a card). Not sure how noticeable it is in the photo but Santa's beard is made with some lovely glitter. And come December and birthday's I am sure some of you will receive these cards so I hope I didn't ruin the surprise too much.

now check out the girl - that hat and the collar on her shirt - TOO CUTE! Other than the actual drawing she needs new everything - but all in good time. I believe the lady whose home I was in was named Audrey so I am pretty sure its her in the drawing. Or at least I hope, because the drawing looks like an Audrey to me now.

LAST THING - one of those homes I was in today - they LOVED color and crazy fun wallpaper. There was pink and purple everywhere! I took a shot on my iphone of one bathrooms wallpaper. Very brave color scheme they had going on, personally not for me but fun to see in a home.-

Cake Decorating

I had wanted to take a class for a long time but I just never did, so when a family friend told me about a short class at Hobby Lobby I jumped at the chance. Its a 1 day a week, 4 week class and I only have 2 classes left but I finished my first cake! The lady told us to make something super simple with just 3-4 colors. I chose to make my own image because I wanted to draw a cute little owl.

Without further ado - please meet Mister Owl

I had someone tell me that it looks like he is screaming haha - and it totally does now that she said that, but it was just supposed to be the top of his beak to the bottom of his beak, not of an open screaming mouth oops! I should have made his eyes bigger and maybe made the top of his beak more rounded - oh well - live and learn! I promise to share my next cake with you, but she is having us make clowns - bleh - not my favorite thing.

Records covers

Record covers could supply me with endless entertainment. For the most part, it's one giant WHAT WHERE YOU THINKING kind of moments. Great fun for moi!
Well, I was able to go through somebodies old records and take what I wanted and there are a few I thought I would share because... well they were funny

SO here is a man named GEORGIO - he kinda reminds me of one of the guys from Milli Vanilli (sp?)

Some of his songs titles are perfect considering his album cover styling - the pic I took wasn't so great but you might be able to make out a few like, "I Won't Change" and "Menage a Trois" hehe

BUT I guess GEORGIO had a change of heart seeing that his SECOND ALBUM was titled "I Don't Want 2 Be Alone" I guess he was able to sow his wild oats during his 1st album. Oh, and I am pretty sure he was sporting the manscaped brows LONG before it became popular. What an interesting "artist" I didn't keep either of these musical masterpieces but I thought others might be interested in Georgio.
I didn't know anything about him so the what is the best place on the internet superhighway to get random information???? well its WIKIPEDIA of course so click on that if you wanna know things about him.

SO this last album I thought was just plain weird... it is "The Language and Music of the Wolves" HUH??? and its by ROBERT REDFORD??? HUH squared!

Do you remember the time

Oh Mister Jackson - How I have missed you far longer than just your recent passing
SO here are some of my fondest memories of Michael Jackson

+ dancing all by myself in my room to the Thriller album on my Fisher Price record player
{I would had to have been 5 or younger because we moved when I was six and it was in the old house}

+ totally owned some Michael Jackson figurine which I played with with my Barbie's - and its quite possible that I still have him in some box filled with dolls in some dank storage unit???

+ Being able to see Captain EO in 3-D at Disney World or Epcot on two separate occasions and loving it both times {fun facts - I just now found out via wiki that Captain EO was directed by Francis Ford Coppola AND apparently its the first time the world sees MJ with a celf chin}

+ learning the Thriller dance in HS - and now only remembering bits and pieces of the dance

+ and lastly - not even 2 months ago I obtained a pretty good vinyl of Thriller - maybe in hopes of recapturing my inner 3-5 year old ha

Okay - so those are some of my personal fav MJ moments, do YOU have any you wanna share?

In my lifetime {thus far} I was able to grow up as Michael was becoming the King of Pop. I really only knew him as an artist in his own right, being that I was too young to associate him with the Jackson 5 until I was older. The 80's and 90's were his glory days and he deserved any and all accolades he received. And although
his mystic and magic faded into an shade of peculiarity that became difficult for me to love and I resorted back to his early music to tune out his oddities. He changed music forever, I mean for crying out loud his is Michael Jackson and he will be forever missed!

In these days that lie ahead for his children I send this warm and happy thoughts.

{and the pic is of the Thriller album I got not long ago}
