don't check my list twice yet...

so I was asked by my mom what I was wanting for Christmas and at first I couldn't think of anything - but after roughly 20 minutes I was able to manage to make her a small list

here is one of them
5300 California Fleece Pant - from American Apparel
I am thinking I would like them in Brown, Navy or Black

buy these comfy duds HERE
{I already have them in green and grey but I love them so much that I feel that I need more}

cross my stitches and call me Sally

well I know I have talked about this cross stitch for some time - and I am pressing my sister to buy and make it for me for Christmas - so we will see...
but in the mean time

SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH

buy it HERE!

I already ordered mine

Its free for one - even the shipping! I placed my order and I bet a number of you follow suit!
GET YOURS HERE!

this weekend

I went to The Girlie Show which is kinda like an arts and crafts show - but way cooler. I mean they sold booze so they get a one up on most craft shows. But its all women designers and it isn't those moms in Christmas sweaters or anything like that... it was a fun crowd. I was a little disappointed in the fact that there weren't as many vendors as I thought it would have but it was a fun environment nonetheless. The pic was of the sign above the booze line.

GET OUT

and go VOTE!!!

I urge everyone to vote - no matter who you are voting for! I went at about 11 this morning and where I go there are about 5 different precincts for voting... a couple had long lines that snaked around - but luckily mine had no line at all. Walked in and walked right back out, it was lovely.

and as proof - my I VOTED sticker

I am eagerly anticipating the Presidental outcome - I might go into hiding for a couple of days if my dear canidate doesn't win. Well I lie about that - but I will be V.V. sad!

I heart Cecily Anne

MFC finally had her baby on Oct. 26th! Her name is Cecily Anne and she is beyond perfect! I love her soo much already

the pic is of her being a one-eyed pirate

she opens one eye to see if the coast is clear and you are lucky she will consider opening the other one... ADORABLE

JURY DUTY

well as an update on my jury duty... I showed up at 7am {blerg - it hurt getting up that early} and then they ended up letting me leave at 4. No jury duty for me - I served my afternoon and I guess that was all I was needed for. I didn't even get selected to see if I was a possible jury candidate. Oh well!

took the pic as I was leaving for the day

sorry

I know - I am a terrible blogger! So I might do a few today to make up for it a little!

so this is an awesome photo don't you think!!! I mean - where is Ken Medema looking? he follows you everywhere {spooky}

its the cover of a record that I found at a random vintage store in OKC - MFC showed me this store and I knew I had to record the moment via a pic of one crazy looking dude

100th post!!!

well pat me on the back cause this is my 100th post - I should have managed this feat back in Sept but oh well

So, today is MFC due date (although I think that baby might stay in hiding a few more days). Her belly is crazy big and I heart it! oh and happy wedding anniversary to you and Benjamin.

this pic is of her belly at 8ish months I believe? {and yes A.C. I hijacked a photo of yours}
But my dear cousin I thought it would be fun to have a couple of pics of us when we were just bambinos

I notice a similarity from your 4-D pic of your baby and you! THOSE BIG CUTE CHUBBY CHEEKS! How cute is g'ma in that pic?!? loves it! But I just wanted to say I can't wait for your baby to get out of your belly so we can have a proper introduction. I hope its soon! Love you!
{oh and how awesome are our outfits ha}

hello again

sorry for the delay in blogs -

so here is an interesting story

I get back to Oklahoma, and I get a new drivers license {because I shamefully lost mine in NY} and not but a couple of days later I receive a notice in the mail saying ...

I HAVE JURY DUTY hahaha

now I have never had jury duty and I think it could be interesting if I get an interesting case but the timing stinks something terrible because I have a friend {lets call her HB} flying into town on a Sat. staying Sunday and flying out Mon. late afternoon. But I have to report for jury duty early that very same Mon. morning

{booo hisss}

oh well - I already decided that on Monday my mom will show my friend around. Which is actually all too appropriate because HB already believes my mother is a Oklahoma ambassador because my mom would always give her Oklahoma related items in hope that she would venture out this way for a trip and now its finally become a realization. SO hold on to your hat HB - I am pretty sure my mom is making an itinerary of all the Oklahoma related things that you will be doing on that Monday.

xoxo

Little Britain USA

I have every season of the orginal Little Britain from the UK and I am so excited that Little Britain USA that is going to be airing on HBO - it is a must watch! Seriously - they are so wrong on so many levels, but thats what makes it soo funny.

please stand by...

well I am knee-deep in the process of packing up all my belongings for the journey back to Oklahoma. I will admit that at this point I am much further along than I normally am when I move but to the strangers eye, I am probably not even close. Fret not, I still have 3 days to get all my things situated and boxed up. Probably not going to have the chance to blog for a while - so later for now my sweets!

woo hoo

So I know that MTV or VH1 have tried to rip off this show but it hasn't worked but the orginal show called NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS on the BBC is fantastic! I haven't watched any of the episodes when Mark Lamarr was hosting, but the newest host Simon Amstell is hilarious. He makes me giggle with glee. To quote the BBC, Never Mind the Buzzcocks is an "Irreverent pop quiz, with guest competitors from the worlds of music, TV and comedy." Well the new season is starting soon and I can't wait... and do a search on youtube for the show {especially the ones with Simon hosting} you won't regret it.

fyi - The fella in the pic is Simon.

MOCHI

So one of the guys in the office just took a trip to Thailand and brought back MOCHI for every one in the office. Now I have had plain mochi in my red mango frozen yogurt but I have never tried mochi that is filled with anything. But this mochi that he brought into the office is filled with MILK CHOCOLATE! OMGosh it is so yummy - I have already had 2 pieces today

here's to me hoping that the asian supermarket in OKCity will carry some mochi for me to nosh on!

ode to Gussie Lou

So my parents got a dog - well I guess its been a couple of years now - they got a maltese poodle mix. The breeders showed J and T {my 'rents} the doggie parents of the puppies and they were somewhat reassured that the puppy they chose would be small or at least small-ish. Well low and behold they took home what they considered to be the cutest of the litter and gave her the name Gussie Lou. Well Gussie Lou turned out to be not so small and a bit of a handful. I think she ended up with more poodle than maltese because the last dog they had was all maltese and she was not nearly as wild and crazy as dear Gussie Lou.
She has chewed up some expensive rugs and done various other naughty things and my parents have, at times, been so fed up with her they considered finding her a new home.

Alright alright, I'll wrap it up, but the reason I brought this up was because I got a card in the mail from my mom last week
On the front it has a dog that looks fairly similar to Gussie Lou and the dog is wearing blue sunglasses and a red bandana - the card reads as so...

"Dear Meleia,
Gussie Lou is eagerly awaiting your return home! She wears her sunglasses, sits in the VW Bug, just waiting- just anticipating the many places you will take her! Gussie Lou loves you!"

My mom is funny and clever and she makes me laugh - but darned if she isn't trying to pawn her dog off on me. ha

last night

So last night I was packing up more and more boxes when all of the sudden the movie PRACTICAL MAGIC came on, I was shocked to learn that it came out sooo long ago in 1998. I loved that movie - I loved that soundtrack, when I was watching it, to me, it didn't seem dated so I suppose thats good. Consequently, I became engaged in the movie and I couldn't pull myself away. Later my roommate comes in to find me watching the movie and asks why I'm not watching the Emmy's {CRAP} well thats because I totally forgot about the Emmy's. Well I was already in too deep so I finished out the movie and switched over to the Emmy's right in time for Tina Fey to win all the good ones. Again I will state that Tina Fey is flawless - she is comic perfection... her line after winning one of the awards thanking her parents of "somehow raising me to have confidence which is disproportionate with my looks and abilities. Well done! That is what all parents should do." {I totally concur - now is as good of time as ever - Thanks Mom and Dad!}

And the bit she did with Amy Poehler - welcoming all the nations watching the Emmy's and Amy saying hello to all the parrots - tee hee fantastic. Steven Colbert and Jon Stewart - always funny but besides that I thought that the Emmy's were boring {as usual - I'm glad with my decision to continue watching Practical Magic}

Any gowns you liked? I like Kate Walsh's gown other than the flower in the middle, I liked Mariska Hargitay's yellow gown, and Kyra Sedgwick's little shorter number.

dinner

so last night I had dinner with my friend Julie...

we met in the East Village at a restaurant called Mercadito - it was a tapas restaurant and it was scrumptious and the inside was cute to boot

dinner consisted of

guacamole - we did the tasting of 2
one had pineapple in it which was delish
and the other one was super spicy and it too was delish

the actual meal portion was
the tilapia taco (2)
and the beed taco (2)

and as a side it was plantains roasted in sugar or something
all of it was soo yummy

OH and I got a drink - apparently in Mexico or areas of South America they make a sort of mixed drink with beer called a michelada - mine was basically a bloody mary but with beer instead of vodka
I think Julies had watermelon in it?

anyways it was all yum - and since it was tapas the portions were small but I was totally full by the time I left.

Rosetta Stone

So I really wish that I had a knack for learning languages.. I don't. I do hope that my niece learns a 2nd language because the world is becoming so small and being able to communicate with others is so key in being sucessful. So I think that I am going to save up and buy the 1st level of the ROSETTA STONE learning system of Spanish so my niece and I can learn together. Its cool because they don't do translations but you learn through immersion - so you learn the language naturally. Its fairly pricey at $259.00 but I think it will totally be worth it.

lemon macaron

I had one today and it was quite simply - scrumptious! I could have eaten a TON more even though they are sooo rich. But the other thing is, I can hardly afford to eat them. For a single macaron, $2.50... Miért!

weekend recap

On Friday I went with a couple of friends to see the movie BURN AFTER READING - if you haven't seen it I say SEE IT. Personally I loved it, Brad Pitt was great as the dim-witted gym trainer.

Sat. was a fairly do nothing day - veggied out and watch some football Michigan {go blue} and then after that the OU game {boomer sooner} - then on to SNL

B-T-Dub Tina Fey as Sarah Palin is dead on and hilarious. Is there something that Tina Fey can't do? I say NO - and if you think differently then don't tell me because I am pretty postive that she is flawless!

Sunday I packed some boxes and waited for a friend from HS to get in town and then after that I pretty much had the best NY day ever.

The SAN GENNERO FESTIVAL in Little Italy was going on so we hit that up and then we headed over toGRIMALDIS for pizza {some of the best if not THE best pizza in the city}
and then down the street to the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory for vanilla with chocolate chunks on a waffle cone. But to top off the night we walked from Brooklyn to Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge and it was just perfect!

The hair gods have heard your plea about bringing back the BANANA CLIP! I saw a nice older Eastern European woman today on the subway ROCKIN out a banana clip and all I could think about was getting to tell you this exciting news! It was a clear frosted banana clip and you would have jumped for joy!

something else I want off EBAY

LETTER M

I like its rustic look - but I think by the time its all said and done this letter is going to go for one pretty penny - so for now its just on my watch list.

ohhh I believe in yesterday

so yesterday I made another trip back to Brooklyn so I could make it inside the doors of the Blue Ribbon General Store since I went on Labour day last weekend and they were {of course} closed. But I was able to make a couple of small purchases

I have posted on both of these posters before {I think?} but after I saw them in person I decided I needed them all to myself

my dear roommate make the journey with me this time and we hit a couple more shops in the area... it was nice.

but here are my AH-MAZING purchases {jealous much?} - I have to admit I think the best part about it was they were only $4.95 each woot woot!

Phrenology Head Wrapsheet

A New Yorker's View of the USA

shipping confused

but thats okay - because today in the mail I was totally taken by surprise when a gorgeous typewriter showed up at my office. People here are loving it! They said it reminds them of the tv show Mad Men on AMC. I need to figure out what kind of typewriter ribbon I need to purchase for blue beauty!

the A.M. extremes

I had just gotten off the train and I was taking the stairs up to the street I noticed a woman walking with one of those backpacks on wheels and there was a man who wasn't paying attention and he stepped on her bag. Mind you I don't think it was intentional but he clearly stepped on this womans bag in a big way - it really tripped her up. This man failed to say he was sorry or even acknowledge the fact that he did anything wrong and just chose to ignore the situation entirely. So the woman says something to him - he again looks at her and then looks away chosing to just ignore the situation. She says something to him again and he won't even look at her this time, so this woman proceeds to pull up her backpack on wheels and hit him in the leg with it and tell him to grow up. He still refuses to address her in any way so she hits at him again with her backpack. Now I am standing on the corner waiting for the light to turn green but I am really wrapped up in this situation so I turn to look around and notice that I am not the only one intrigued by this circumstance... a lot of people are watching at this point. She yells at him once again and tells him to grow up to which he finally responds - well you just hit me with your backpack why don't you grow up. hahaha - the whole situation is SOOO mature I can't even stand it!

So finally the light changes the woman heads in the opposite direction of the man and I head to cosi to grab a coffee. I order my iced coffee with soy milk and the man behind the counter starts on my order. Then all of the sudden as I am grabbing my splenda to put in my coffee I turn around to see the man standing RIGHT behind me handing me my coffee. He asks if it has enough milk and I tell him its perfect.... and he responds with "your perfect, love"

it was weird - I just kinda looked at him funny and said thanks but then I noticed a guy standing in line about to order - start laughing at what had just transpired.

well that was my morning so far... jeepers creepers

oh and because its HIGH-LARIOUS

re: Sarah Palin

Fox News: "She does know about international relations because she is up therein Alaska right next door to Russia."

Jon Stewart: "Alaska is also next to the North Pole so, obviously, she must also be friends with Santa."

my 5 day weekend

So Thursday I went to Jones Beach with my roommate Laura - caught some rays - it was delightful other than the water was filled with dead jellyfish. So I didn't get in the water much. Bleh - Jellyfish creep me out.

Friday I didn't do much I hung around Astoria because I knew I had to get to bed early because...

Sat. my rear end was meeting up with 3 other Astoria folks so we could all head over to New Jersey so we could carpool up to Bethel, NY for the Cheap Trick, Heart, and Journey concert. The drive was a little long but it was totes worth it, we tailgated and pulled out blankets and sat down and watched a fun fun show!

Okay - if you have the chance to see Heart perform - jump on it, they were freaking fantastic!
and a little tid-bit I did not know before I went to the show,
-Journey found their latest lead singer on youtube? not even kidding - he is from the Philippines and this guy is a freaking parrot! He sounded just like Steve Perry, it was a little ridiculous! Apparently he can also sound just like Sting too! Pretty wicked, but the funny part was at the very end when he was saying thank you to the audience it was in pretty broken english... its just so odd he can sing perfectly like Steve Perry but when he says thank you and goodnight it was quasi-tough to understand.

Sun. got up pretty early and headed from Bethel, NY back to the city where I crashed - slept slept slept

Mon. I got up and around because I wanted to head to a store in Brooklyn called the Blue Ribbon General Store. Made it out there only to find it closed - DUH I mean its Labor day, I should have known better. But thats okay because I then spent some time just walking around Brooklyn in the Boreum Hill, Carroll Gardens and Park Slope (my old hood) areas of Brooklyn. There are just soo many restaurants and shops and pretty much anything else you can imagine. I am going to miss that a lot - all the diversity there is in NY.

AND LASTLY - I went from Park Slope to the L.E.S. in the city and cooled myself off in a movie. I went and saw American Teen - a documentary about group of 5 students who went to HS in a town in Indiana. It reminded me to be grateful that I survived HS fairly unscathed. It was good - I recommend everyone to Netflix 'American Teen' once it gets released.

Well that was basically my weekend round-up! How was yours?

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

almost licked the screen

totally not necessary right now - but this is just EYE CANDY!

So far today...

Did anyone watch the some of the speeches for the Democratic National Convention last night? I loved the tribute to Ted Kennedy. {shhh - but I teared up a couple of times during Michelle Obama's speech}

There was a line from his speech that really stayed on my mind - "Barack Obama will be a commander in chief who understands that young Americans in uniform must never be committed to a mistake, but always for a mission worthy of their bravery." - I wholeheartedly agree Senator Teddy!

Hmmm, what else OH there were a crazy amount of cops out today... I noticed 3 searching bags as I entered the train - 2 two on my actucal train and 4 more searching bags as I exited the 23rd St. station.

AND I realized yesterday that I still had a few vacation days off work so I am taking off this Thurs and Friday {I think its going to rain on both day bleh} - but if it doesn't I might be hitting the beach and then prepping myself for the concert on Sat.

Monday, August 25, 2008

cute clutch

I like THIS - and the big plus is that it's only $42!

Just a couple of things

- I got asked directions again today {they were looking for 3rd Avenue and I felt kinda bad telling them how far they still needed to go}

- I am sad the olympics is over but I am happy that I can finally get to bed before 1am

- my niece got a cell phone and I have gotten text message/pics/recordings galore! I love it - she is my little buddy! The recordings are the funniest, I have to admit. They come through as a text message but then all of the sudden she is talking to you, haha which totally took me by surprise.
{the first one was her asking if when ever I get back to Oklahoma if I will take her ice skating "I don't know why, but that just came into my head"} hehe
{the second one was her asking if I knew that she got her ear pierced} which I did know but I still love getting little messages and things from her

It seems like she went from a little kid to a t'ween the moment she got her cell phone

- going to a big concert this weekend in Bethel, NY - which is the city of the original Woodstock. NOT to keep up with coolness of the original bands that played there I am going to see JOURNEY - HEART - and CHEAP TRICK

BAHAHAHA - pretty ah-mazing right - should make for some fun sing-a-longs and killer people watching

- oh and I am sooo still relishing in my HUGE win on ebay last night

Sunday, August 24, 2008

I WIN

Well I am the official new owner of a rockin' Vintage Blue Remington Streamliner Portable Typewriter! The really ah-mazing pink one got too pricey and so Sunny Isles, Fl. ended up not having to mail me something after all. BUT its ON Hastings, Nebraska! Well my first time on Ebay actually bidding on something and I WIN. My stomach was churning because I was so nervous but alas I pulled off a win... $27 bucks plus $17.50 for shipping and insurance.

not bad because my max bid was 32.55 - so it was a bit cheaper than I thought I was going to have to pay. I really need to try and understand all the bidding rules on ebay cause I don't get it... but right now I am just soaking up my WIN!

She is really cute isn't she! I think I might name her Hildegaard - Hildy for short{that was the lady's name in the movie His Girl Friday and she totally used a typewriter}

My SUSPENSION! via EBAY

This might get long... so here it goes
Well I have to be honest - I really only scour EBAY I never actually buy things. But I am quite hell bent on getting that really HOT hermes-rocket typewriter. So I went to sign in the other day and for some reason Ebay told me my account was SUSPENDED!!!! WHAT? Suspended? I couldn't even tell you the last time I actually made a purchase on Ebay... I had in the past (and by past I mean many many moons) only made 'buy it now' purchases because the actual bidding on Ebay confuses me a bit.

SO I thought that maybe I had made a purchase and then never paid and Ebay suspended my account because of that? I was really nervous and scared like a school kid in trouble, but I knew I needed to resolve the issue. So Ebay sent me to this IM chat room so I could talk/write one on one with a person from Customer Support. Well my persons name was Angelo F. and I tried to keep our conversation light and funny because I thought I was in trouble and I figured he held the keys to me being reinstated with EBAY. SO then he asks me if I remember registering my account at an address in Brooklyn {see - I tried to tell you it was many moons ago - I haven't lived in Brooklyn since 2005}. I told Angelo "I do!" and he wanted my complete address... I told him to wait because I had to search some old e-mails to see if it was in there because I have moved 3 times since then and I didn't know that old address off the top of my head. Luckily I was able to uncover it in an old e-mail {me not throwing away any old e-mails does occasionally come in handy}. Angelo then proceeds to ask me if I have any immediate family members with an EBAY account? Um, I don't think so, but maybe my sister. Then Angelo needs me to find out. So I text my sister to ask... and she tells me that NO she does not have an EBAY account. Well he then tells me that I did not give him enough information to verify my account and that I am going to have to send some documentation proving I am who I say I am. AND that part of that documentation needs to list my old Brooklyn address. WOAH WOAH WOAH... So I wrote him and I told him that taking longer is not the issue, I can handle that.... but what is going on? What happened to my account and what kind of documents does he need other than my Brooklyn address? He then ignores the first half of my question and only answers the part about the documentation.

I then write "Um, Angelo - I feel that you are avoiding my first question {ha}" (the 'ha' was me keeping it light)
he was nice about it and said that EBAY would be more than happy to explain what happened after I send over the documentation.

So last night I rummage through some old papers and luckily I kept a few pay stubs from an old job that had my Brooklyn address on there and just now EBAY wrote me to tell me that my account is OFF suspension!!! YAY - apparently I didn't do anything wrong and an unauthorized 3rd party hacked into my account. BOOO, but EBAY is taking the steps to make it all better

right this moment...

MFC asked me to make her a chill/relaxed cd to listen to at the hospital before she gives birth... I have to say I feel a little bit of pressure.

I think I came up with a pretty good list - I was a little surprise how many oldie songs I chose and I hope she will be happy with it... I will be sure and post the list after its in her hands

But it got me to thinking - I should make a cd to give to my friends here before I leave NY and I thought it should include all songs that mention the word Oklahoma.

SO other than the obvious anyone have any suggestions? I can think of a couple but I shant mention their names because ONE of them is on MYC cd!

{ASH - I promise that the last song on the CD is not PUSH It by Salt n Pepper at your request} :)

"I bet she knows... ask HER"

Maybe somehow I just exude an extreme sense of direction and many a stranger/tourist are attracted to it { it must be a super-power I have no contol over}

So here's the thing - I get asked directions all the time. I don't know what about me that makes people assume I know where I'm going but it happens a couple of times a week. I think a lot of it has to do with the part of town in which I work, but it happens in Astoria as well. MFC can attest to part of this because I was speaking with her on the phone the other day and I had a girl interrupt my conversation to ask me which direction she needed to start walking.

Which I found to be funny because not only did she interrupt my phone conversation but I also had on a Oklahoma t-shirt and I was walking around Astoria. Alright alright - the area I was in was a little shady and I was probably the only half normal looking person around but still - I think some of my direction "super-power" lured her into asking me!

If I had one of those things people park their cars in...

Ahh yes you know what mean - a garage! Well if I had a 'garage' I would totally place this awesome TRANSISTOR radio in it! I doubt I would be spending much time in a garage but if I were - I am postive I would turn on this transitor radio - tune into an AM oldies station and rock out. It would make spending time in the garage better! Ahhh I can hear Elvis and the Beach Boys playing now

YOU WILL BE MINE!

{please note this is a special Sat. blog because this is of major importance}
Okay so that maybe not exactly true but I am pretty sure that my {nonexistant} ebay skills are going to be put to good use - why you ask? Well because when I saw this Hermes Rocket-my heart went pitter-patter!

I might even call on my dear friend Candypants because she has honed her mad ebay skills and I am really thinking I need this! I think I even like it better than that pink typewriter I found before. Watch out Sunny Isles, FL - you are going to be mailing me something v. v. soon!

Say no to drug kids!

meth teeth = crazy disgusting

So I had this man approach me as I stepped out for lunch. He looked homeless and had scary/meth teeth but he was dressed well enough - it just looked as if he had not changed out of his quasi-nice outfit in a good month. I assumed he was wanting money and I was correct but he managed to keep me entertained with his story so I heard him out {plus I didnt know how to get away gracefully}. His story was that he needs help "and don't be frightened because I am a gay man" he is a costume designer who left his keys inside his apt. and couldn't make it back in the door and in the hallway he had left his latest designs... and he was sorry that his eyes were a little crazy because "I am so panicking that someone might steal them". But he helped design the costumes for a show on Broadway called The Drowsey Chaprone "Oh good you know of the show!" And that he really needs money for a cab to get back to his apartment to try and beg someone to let him back in. And don't worry about insanely heavy breathing because "I am just panicking about my clothes and its triggering my asthma." I mean him waiting for his next fix didn't have anything to do with it I'm sure.

So I finally get to speak and I tell him I don't have any money... that I am crazy poor and live paycheck to paycheck so I am not the one he should be asking for money - then he got a little grumpy and said that any amount would do - so I gave him a single dollar. There was some talk of his John Varatos jacket... something about that I could hold it but he needed it back? Not really sure where he was trying to go with that.

{Obviously I didn't take a photo of his teeth but they were on par with gleaming enameled pearls}

my new stomping ground

my new stomping ground is EBAY

its just a gold mine of fun things! I found these CHAIRS and I think they would be SO fun as outdoor furniture with a cute little table in between them! and they are only 99 cents so far! I showed them to MFC and she put them on her watch list because she also fancied these gems

oh AND...

So I went with my friend Heather to see one of her favorite bands on Sat. But I have to say that one of the opening bands for her band killed them!

{take a seat for this announcement- cause you are sooo going to need it}

Their name is Tragedy and they are the #1 BEEGEE's METAL TRIBUTE BAND in the Tri-State AREA! hahahahaha {the link is to their myspace page}

and I have to tell you they rocked it out - and live they really did sound similar to the Gibbs brothers and I think the very best part was the fact that I knew every single word to every single song they played. It was basically the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. I am fairly positive that I must buy their cd on iTunes - but if they come to a neighborhood near you I highly suggest you go and see them. They were sooo much fun!

smitten kitten

I am in swoon city over this sofa on EBAY!!!

granted the mint green isn't exactly perfect but its soooo pretty and the mint green could work til enough money was saved for a reupholstery job. $399 starting bid - cheaper than most sofas on the market and those sofas don't have any character - or chutzpah.

another sofa in a very DISTANT second place {and you have to click on the link to see the pics because I am too lazy to post them for a sofa that I don't like nearly as much - the mint green stole my heart}

Wolf Parade - KoL - Black Keys

well I went to see WOLF PARADE this past Friday night and they were really great live. They don't have just one lead singer and the different singers sound so different. It was like seeing a few bands in one. BUT here is the BIG NEWS!!!

The KINGS OF LEON
are going on tour with their starting show happening in NYC on Sept 23rd which I MUST MUST MUST attend!
I have listened to two of the songs off their soon to be released album and I have really liked them both.

okay I am the concert queen lately I know - but tonight I am going to see THE BLACK KEYS! out in Williamsburg. They remind me a lot of The White Stripes who I also adore.
